Female stereotypes.

We tend to think stereotypically regarding genders. Men should be masculine and manful while women are feminine and gentle creatures who need support and appreciation. Well, actually it is fine. But there are many other stereotypes concerning genders that seem to be quite weird and awful. Generalizing features of the others you may make some silly mistakes. Seriously it would be better if people accept each other avoiding generalization. Let's see what men tend to think of women.

Harvey Ball, the Author of the Yellow Smiley

The sincere open smile gives the feeling of the warm friendly atmosphere and improves the mood. Maybe the largest number of smiles was presented to the world by Harvey Bell. Harvey Bell is also the author of of the World Smile Day which is celebrated on the first Friday of October. But how could Harvey Bell managed to become the champion in smiling? In the beginning of 60s the unknown artist Harvey Ball was ready to carry any order out. One of these orders was to develop the logo for an insurance company. According to the demands of the company that should be a bright easy-to-remember and simple symbol that would remind the members of the stuff that it was necessary to smile at the clients while signing the contracts. Harvey Bell managed to fulfill the order within less than ten minutes. His earned income was 45 USD. This was the only money he had ever received for his work. However the company appreciated the talent of Harvey Ball and ordered 10 000 of the badges with that smile.

Rock Bands Of 90s-2000s: The Most Significant Transformations

Time goes by and people grow up and change. It’s not a secret that it’s impossible to remain unchanged and do the same things during the whole lifetime. That’s what I was thinking about when felt nostalgic the other day and fished my old nu metal recordings out of the closet. If you are a kid of 80s, you should doubtlessly remember them: Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Korn, Deftones and many other bands that were the only fellows to understand your fragile teenage soul. Taking a look at what these bands are today, you can easily find lots of differences.

Michael Wolf

Michael Wolf is a photographer who pictures our life and demonstrates how absurd and weird it seems to be from outside. Due to his photos one might realize how usual things appear to be odd and really strange. We are stuck in a rut and sometimes hardly notice what surrounds us, what we face every day.

Michael Wolf was born in Munich, Germany but was raised in the United States. As a photographer he became well known for his pictures of China and Chinese reality. His books Sitting in China and China im Wandel are devoted to the Celestial Empire. One of the most interesting projects by Wolf is dedicated to Hong Kong. Architecture of Density depicts complex architectural constructions in Hong Kong. The area is supposed to be the most densely populated in the world. Lots of people are dreaming to move to HK especially from Mainland China. The facades of those buildings remind strange abstractions. “…in Hong Kong I had the good fortune of photographing my Architecture of Density series in a way which hadn’t been done before that rigorously. I cropped every building that there was no sky and no horizon so the result was that you had a very tight picture which could be credibly large because you had no idea where the building ended on the sides and on the top”. At the same time pictures of Hong Kond by Wolf are very precise as Hong Kong is very overpopulated area. “… it suddenly became a statement on how we live in mega cities”.

Franck Juery photography

Franck Juery is a French photographer who takes amazingly beautiful pictures. He currently lives and works in Paris. The images he creates are strange and sometimes pretty mysterious. But the most exact word describing his approach is nostalgia. Indeed it may seem to you that you find yourself in the past. Some of his works seem to be pretty obscure and even ambiguous. Nevertheless all of them are charming. Unfortunately there is no much information on him and his projects. It is well known that Franck Juery works as an independent photographer for different editions. Juery is interested in urban planning, the French littoral and oneiric issues.

Did Our Ancestors Wear Gloves?

Such necessary accessory as gloves appeared long ago. But gloves have never were considered old-fashioned during the whole history of their existence. One of the most ancient gloves was found in the tomb of Tutankhamen during the archeological examination carried out in 1922.

In the text of “The Odyssey” by Homer the readers may find the prove that the ancient slaves were wearing hard mittens during their work to protect the skin of their hands. According to the ancient Greek historical Xenophon who visited Mesopotamia the Persians wore the fur gloves to protect their hands from cold. Xenophon called them tenderfoots though the warriors of his native land used to wrap leather stripes round their hands to prevent injuries.

Best Female Characters in Books

As for me, I read books in search for inspiration. Though the characters presented in literature do not exist, they still can serve as the examples for us. However, not all characters are vivid and strong enough to become the source of my inspiration. Still, there are some which I consider to be really well developed.

One of my favorite female characters is Scarlett O’Hara from “Gone with the Wind”. Scarlett is a progressive woman who is not afraid to express her emotions which is a novelty for that time. When she falls in love with Ashley Wilkes she just opens her heart to him without intrigues or hypocrisy. This woman is very strong and courageous which is also worth admiration. Scarlett taught me one of the main principles of life which I use quite often – if you feel sad about something, think about it tomorrow. It may sound like escape from problems, but, in fact, it really works. What I like most about Scarlett O’Hara is that she is not passive like lots of other heroines of the books. If she wants something she just goes for it and I highly appreciate this feature.
